Can Kerrypress typeset to PDF directly from XML or SGML without converting the data first?
Answer
Utilising the XML Professional Publisher software, we can process XML and SGML data in its native form.
The data will be constantly parsed against the customers DTD so that, if necessary, fully valid XML or SGML can be returned to the customer after any last minute edits have been taken in by us.

Can Kerrypress typeset to PDF directly from well structured Microsoft Word files?
Answer.
Utilising bespoke software, we can convert Microsoft Word files into either "well formed" XML or into Xyascii (XPP's native format) and produce typeset pages directly from these files.

Can Kerrypress assist us in converting our Microsoft Word databases into XML to parse to our DTD?
Answer.

What is the page price charged by Kerrypress?
Answer
Every job is different. We handle work of many complexities and our average prices range from £2 per page (or even less) up to £12 per page for complex jobs requiring lots of setting and/or manual intervention.

What hourly charge do Kerrypress use to calculate their costs?
Answer
Once again, this varies depending upon the level of expertise required. Software development and translation tables are charged at £65 per hour, whereas data editing is normally charged at £35 per hour.

What about conventional "non XML" typesetting?
Answer
Kerrypress can handle all forms of typesetting, either from XML/SGML, Word Processor output or as Keyboarding from hard copy.
Tabular material, maths and equations can be handled with ease, as can complex layouts and jobs with a heavy graphic content.

Can Kerrypress convert from "old" word processing or typesetting systems?
Answer
Most word processing and typesetting systems in use over the last 15 years can be easily converted.
We can read from virtually any disk format (even obsolete 5" and 8" disks and disks from Amstrad 3" word processor systems).
We can also read from many tape systems or (as a last resort) will "milk" data directly from an old system using comms connections.

Can I have my data back on demand?
Answer
Should you wish the data to be returned to you in a standard form, ie, Microsoft Word or in Tagged Ascii, then there is a standard charge of 50p per page for this service.
We will also quote for converting your data into any other specific structure, or for embedding "added-value" for use Online or in CDRom production.
